About the foundation
James Burr "Jim" Harrison created the Foundation to benefit the citizens of Fort Bend and Wharton Counties and to preserve the natural resources he cherished throughout his life. A dedicated steward of the land, Jim devoted more than 50 years to conserving and restoring the Long Point and Burr properties, planting thousands of trees and enhancing a diverse range of wildlife habitats.
Today, the James B. Harrison Foundation carries forward that legacy by promoting conservation, outdoor education, and responsible stewardship of natural resources. Through partnerships with educators, students, conservation organizations, and community groups, the Foundation provides opportunities for hands-on learning, research, and outdoor experiences that inspire an appreciation for Texas' natural heritage.
The Foundation is honored to share the lands Jim so carefully cultivated and to ensure they continue to serve as a resource for education, conservation, and future generations.
